1. Obtain the key from the agreed source - and remember to return it.
2. On entering the building, activate the main electrical switch by inserting the small key in the slot and moving it downwards. You should hear a "clunk", and this will activate all items apart from the central heating and hot water in the toilets and kitchen. You also have a key for opening the windows if required.
3. If you require the central heating to be on, activate the key switch with the red light on the right hand side of
the entrance door, by switching it down in the same way as the electrical switch.
The radiators have thermostatic valves, which are set at 4 to give adequate heat for normal use.
(If you switch heating on “in advance” ensure main electrical switch is left on – and leave a note!)
4. If you require hot water in the toilets there is a wall switch above the basins in both ladies and gents. These
must be switched off again when leaving the building. Hot water for the kitchen taps is no longer provided automatically; switch in cupboard in corner. The boiler by the sink for hot drinks should be turned on (including at wall) at least 15 minutes before required - again please turn everything off when leaving.
5. Crockery is available in the cupboard above the sink for everyday use - please replace it clean. Additional
crockery available on request. There is no kitchen equipment nor glasses at the hall. Please bring your
own teatowels, washing up brushes/cloths etc.
The cooker is activated by the red switch on the wall. The clock must be set for the ovens to activate.
(Instruction book in drawer near sink) Please ensure it is cleaned out after use.
First aid kit in the kitchen drawer near the fan. The switch for the fridge, if required, is above the worktop.
Do not attempt to move the fridge. Please switch off and wipe out after use, and leave the door open.
6. Chairs and tables are stored in the full height cupboards in the main hall. Please take care when opening the
folding doors to unlock the bolts first, and slide/fold the doors back slowly. There is a special device for
collapsing the table legs. Please replace everything in a tidy manner, taking care that the 2 different chair
'types' and colours are stacked separately in the appropriate cupboard. Please do not use any blue tack or
sellotape etc on the walls.
7. The lift is for the use of disabled persons only, with a maximum of 2 people. The instructions are simple and
clear.
8. Spare toilet rolls and cleaning equipment, including the vacuum cleaner, are in the tall white cupboards near
the cooker in the kitchen or in the ground floor store room. If necessary please sweep the floor in the main
rooms.
9. All rubbish should be placed in the grey bins outside, suitably wrapped. Cans and glass bottles in the blue
boxes.
No food or wet waste should be left in the kitchen bin.
10. Please ensure all windows are closed before leaving and the curtains are drawn back.
11. On leaving the building, turn off the hot water switches in the ladies, gents & kitchen; deactivate the central
heating and electricity supply by inserting the appropriate keys in the switches and moving upwards.
12. Please switch off all lights before leaving. The outside bollard lights will remain on for 10 minutes after
switching off to allow for safe departure. Please leave quietly in consideration of our neighbours.
13. Please report any problems such as dud light bulbs, etc. (telephone number on entrance door)
NB. Use of faulty electrical equipment will automatically cut off the supply to all power
sockets.
