PINGYAO
Sheltered from the rampant development the rest of China has been subject to in recent years, Pingyao remains much as it was during the Qing dynasty. Within the ancient walled city lie buildings such as Rishenchang where China's financial industry was founded and houses that have been with the same families for six generations.
