VARANASI

People from across India flock to the ghats that border the banks of the sacred river Ganges at Varanasi. Though it is principally a site for cremations and rituals, all human life (and animal life too, for that matter) is here too - from bathers, boatmen and dhobi women to those who just come here to hang out, Hindu style, beside the holy waters of the Ganga.
